If you plan to visit the area between Mid May and September you can take part in this once in a lifetime experience. This is one of the only parts of the world where you can swim with whale sharks on the surface of the ocean.
Four days of fresh air and mountain pine scenery with new friends. If you've never been to Baja or experienced its national parks the Mountain Jam experience is a good place to start.
Day 1
The Trek begins in San Diego at the Baja Trek meeting point.
Once loaded up we'll move south across the border and then along the coast to Ensenada, our first stop. From here explore the town, mingle with a margarita, or savor some of the seafood Ensenada is famous for.
Then it's a slow drive east and into the interior of Northern Baja to the Pine tree forests of the National Park, Parque Nacional Constitucion de 1857.
There is nothing like the crisp scent of pine riding on a gentle breeze.
By the time the desert dirt road gives way to the pine-covered forests we'll be camped next to the park's lake, Laguna Hanson, at about 4,000 ft. (1200 meters). During years with significant rain fall the lake fills up and the area comes alive.
Night-time welcomes us with amazing constellations that seem close enough to touch. Full moons here are so bright; they'll light up the night.
Day 2 & 3
Buenos Dias! We're up for a substantial Baja breakfast. If there's ample water in the Laguna, the lake can be explored by kayak. The national park is unique as Baja Mexico's northern-most national park. Biking and hiking among the pines is an exhilarating experience as well as seeing the many migratory birds that visit the area at certain times of the year. During the day explore the area, visit some of the ranchos or rock climb. Of course just sitting by the campfire and taking in the Baja vibe is always an option.
Day 4
The day begins gathered around breakfast. Good morning sunshine. By mid-morning it's through the high chaparral of northern Baja and onto the salt air of the Pacific coast.
After cruising through the farming village of Ojos Negros wave goodbye to the dirt road and we're onto the seldom traveled Mexico 3 road that connects the fishing town of San Felipe with Ensenada.
Once back in Ensenada stock up on souvenirs or check out one of the many mariachi bands in the area. Then at the coast it's a right turn north to San Diego and the Baja Trek drop off point where it's adios. We hope to see you next time!

Turtle Release Eco Tour $65.00
When you participate in the Turtle Release Eco Tour, you are not only helping the sea turtle, you are able to learn about the species all while enjoying yourself. The Sea Turtle is making a comeback in the waters of Acapulco and you have the opportunity to help. You will choose a baby sea turtle that has been raised by the Turtle Conservation Program.
You can adopt the turtle and then, through your efforts, release the baby into its natural habitat in the sea. As the baby takes its first swim in the natural waters of the Pacific, you will be there to witness this momentous occasion. This is truly a tour you can feel good about taking!
Help the conservation effort by adopting a sea turtle from the nursery. On your turtle release tour, you have the opportunity to release your baby sea turtle in to the wild and see them in their natural habitat, while helping to preserve the species. This tour includes a a boat ride on the Tres Palos Lagoon. Acapulco is home to many species of aquatic birds and marine animals. After the boat ride we will enjoy lunch at a poolside restaurant on the beach. Red snapper fish is the main dish prepared in the "A la talla" style; it is BBQ roasted and lightly spicy. Other entrees are available if you do not care for fish. Don't forget your camera.
El Mercado, The Market
The Mercado Municipal is really an eye-opener! If You had never been in a real, large, Mexican market before, and it is fascinating. There is so much to see—dry goods, house wares, gorgeous flowers, candy, live roosters, fresh produce…. Many stalls featured health care products, which are a combination of herbal remedies and Santeria-type spells and prayers to saints. One of these stalls had a cage full of large live bugs, whose purpose You will preferred not to ask about.
This market is different than the flea market -- the sales people are not pushy, and the goods are fruit, spices, home baked goods, some crafts, and pottery. After visiting it, You will think You saw the real people of Acapulco. It's not a market for silver and other tourist type items, but great to buy fresh foods an other lovely items.

The name Xochicalco means “place of Flowers”, it was founded about 650 AD. by the Olmeca-Xicallanca, a Mayan grup o trader from Campech. The Quetzalcoatl pyramid, the main fortress, several ball courts and an underground solar observatory are the principal attractions for visitors to the site. As the sun passes through its zenith on May 14th & 15th and July 28th & 29th, a ray of sunlight passes through a narrow shaft in the ceiling of the observatory. The tour may continue to Taxco for a wonderful sightseeing and to admire silver and Mexican handcrafts. Lunch included in TaxcoPick up time 6:30 a.m., returns 9:30 p.m.

La Quebrada is perhaps Acapulco's most iconic attraction, a place that has come to symbolize the city itself. Every day at 1:00 p.m., young men dive from La Quebrada's perilous and jagged cliffs, timing their jump to coincide with the incoming waves that cushion their impact and protect them from landing in the shallows. Come evening, more diving takes place.
Visit the highlights of Acapulco with a guided sightseeing tour, viewing old and new Acapulco. On the way to the scenic road up to Las Brisas we will stop for a pictures and a breathtaking view of the bay and of the rich and famous residences. Then we will take you to witness the world famous cliff diver at “La Quebrada” the scenery of this cliff is the most spectacular of its kind. Pick up time 9:00 a.m., returns 3:00 p.m. Lunch included it can be done withot the lunch as well.
For generations, brave young men from Acapulco have hurled themselves off the majestic cliffs jutting out over the Pacific Ocean. These fearless fellows dive into a narrow inlet where huge waves enter and crash over the rocks. The timing of their dives is crucial and must be perfectly executed due to the dangerous water conditions below.
Coyuca Lagoon is a natural fresh water sanctuary where exotic wildlife coexists among the jungle-shrouded canals. A boat tour to the Coyuca Lagoon is an ideal way to experience the nature of Acapulco. Begin your tour admiring the coconut and palm groves as well as the delicate water hyacinths floating along the shores. Have lunch on the beach, a bird sanctuary that is home to black and white herons, pelicans, marabus, storks and more.
Perched atop a cliff overlooking the bay of Acapulco, the Capilla de la Paz or (Chapel of the Peace) is a very picturesque site and well worth a visit. The non-denominational chapel is located in the very pricey Las Brisas area of Acapulco. The chapel itself is small but very quaint and charming. It has beautiful marble facades which allow lovely opaque light to shine upon the chapel interior during the day. The cross is massive (at over 130 feet in height) and overlooks Acapulco bay. At night it is lit up atop the mountain. Next to the cross there is also a smaller statue called Las Manos de la Hermandad, of two right hands joining together signifying brotherhood.
My suggestion is to try and visit this site on an early/small tour group. We visited on Tuesday morning around 10:30am with a group of only 7 people. We had the site to ourselves for most of the short tour, which was nice considering the small size of the grounds. As we were leaving we saw a few large tour groups arrive and I had a hard time imaging how they were all able to comfortably tour the small site. I would highly recommend this site to anyone visiting Acapulco who is interested in seeing more of the unique charm of the city itself. The view from the top of the chapel atrium is worth the trip alone. Acapulco bay is breathtaking from this vantage point! Bring your cameras this place is gorgeous and a perfect way to spend a bit of the day.

An archaeological site situated 1000 feet above sea level in "el veladero" national park overlooking the beautiful Acapulco bay. Scale the face of the mountain using the large stone steps that are set along a path through the tropical vegetation. Stroll along some of Acapulco´s paths with ancient petro glyphs dating more than 2500 years. Visit a typical local market, browsing through handmade baskets, fruits, fresh flowers & clay pottery. This is a strenuous excursion that involves climbing numerous steps. Pregnant women and tourist with heart conditions, have to be advised about the conditions on this excursion.
